At work, on the work computer I did a windows update and downloaded 8 or 9 security patchs for Win98.

After I rebooted to let them take effect windows blew away the network card drivers (Thank god we have linux installed also>

)

Anyways, I downlaoded the newwest version of the drivers for the:
IBM 10/100 EtherJet PCI Managment Adapter

and with it came a peice of software that can test the card. After reinstalling the drivers 100 times because windows REFUSES to go on the net or get a new DHCP addy even when I do a winipcfg and hit rewnew all.

I had it do the tests and it passes everything except the "LOOPBACK" test. The only thing I know software wise that would do that is iether drivers or no host file.

I'm pretty sure it isn't the drivers since the drivers came from the same source as the software doing the tests (http://www.ibm.com).

I look for a hosts file in find, and there is no host file! Gah, does anyone have the default host file for win98? Or is it something else?
