great voice quality

I've used it for over a year now. First releases were bad, but with this newer version (v1.1) they made a good step forward. The quality of the connection is good, almost like you are one the phone. I haven't tried the SkypeOut option thoug. There is just one "problem" copared to Teamspeak: You are only connected to one other user.

Skype is a peer-to-peer VoIP client developed by KaZaa in 2003.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in the boat and drink beer all day...
for anyone on the fence, skype is worth trying. it remains to be seen how they will try to monetize but it appears to be free for now.
voice quality - very good, though conference connections are iffy.
skype out (ability to make calls to pots lines) - tends to be spotty so far. i don't know how competitive their rates are compared to the phone company.
file transfers - unbelievably slow, especially since this came from the same folks that created kazaa.
text chat - useful but won't replace aim, yahoo, etc. yet
basically, it's good if you need to make voice calls to people with internet connections but not reliable enough to replace a phone and not robust enough to replace the standard internet messenger clients.
