The new "Cell Processor"
Hi all,
If your a techie and follow stuff like this, you might be interested in what the future has in store for the PC market and how things like the "Cell Processor" from IBM - Sony - Toshiba can really upset the Ol' Apple Cart. In the 2nd link, I really was intrigued by what Nicholas Blachford has conjectured about the future of the PC market. For instance, you might be able in the future to buy a cheap PCI - AGP (?) or PCIe card with a Cell Processor that will turn any PC into a super gaming machine and get everyone off the hardware upgrade cycle we currently have to pursue with normal PC architecture. This processor also has implications for rack servers and their providers, so Jon and the rest of the gang here at ECGN are probably already following developments. Anyway, be interesting to hear your comments about this.
1st link is a general overview from ZDNET and may be all most will be interested in reading:

2nd link is a bit of a heavy read but a lot of good stuff here:

Mo!

I carry twenty-three great wounds all got in battle. Seventy-five men have I killed with my own hands in battle. I scatter, I burn my enemies' tents. I take away their flocks and herds. The Turks pay me a golden treasure, yet I am poor! Because *I* am a river to my people!
