DVD Copier
Hey just wondered if anyone else uses DVD Shrink to copy rented dvd's. I just did it and it took forever, but it sure is well worth it. Having your own copy of a movie.
Lol Im sure all of you use it, im just a noob to all of this cool computer stuff.
Just curious

I've been using DVD Shrink for years, works great.
You might also want to get a program called DVD Decryptor as an alternative to DVD shrink, some newer DVDs are protected and DVD Decryptor will be able to bypass it better than DVD Shrink (so you can make backups of your bought and paid for DVD's

After you use DVD Decryptor you can than run DVD Shrink on the file DVD Decryptor just made so you can copy what you want.

I use CloneAD to decrypt/Rip all the files to my hardrive. I have a dual layer DVD burner, but right now, the DL DVDs are too expensive, close to ten bucks per blank DVD. I usually convert to Divx at this point using Dr.Divx (which I highly recommend). No menus or chapters, but there is a PC Divx player that will bookmark the file into the chapters found on the original DVD. Also, I believe I read about another Divx player that supported chapters, but it required some work to set up the chapters correctly.
My big plan anyway is to put either my Mac Mini or my (soon to be old PC (after I upgrade) into my entertainment center and use it as a movies server.

Yah I just use DVD Shrink 3.2 and Nero StartSmart. And I use TDK 4.7 Gb DVD+R's and it copy's all of my movies to perfection. It gets me an exact duplicate of the original, with the extras and the start menu and the whole shabang

I forgot to mention NERO, I use nero to burn my DVD's along with DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor.

I actually bought a copy of DVDXCOPY when it was legal. I don't think you can buy it anymore, but you may still be able to download it from a P2P server.
That being said.. I wasn't impressed much. Couldn't copy half the movies I owned and it took forever. I just downloaded DVD Shrink, after getting a recommendation from a friend. Seems ok so far, still slow (but then again maybe I need a new DVD burner).
It's sad that I paid over $200 for an 8X, single sided burner and now you can buy 16x Dual layer burners for $50... <sigh> I guess that's just the way it goes.
