I'll go see it. I'm a sucker for any kind of giant monster movie. I loved Jurassic Park, I even enjoyed the Godzilla movie with Mathew Broderick. I've always been kind of partial to King Kong, I especially like that they are going with the 1940s time period in this one. It's funny, in spite of ancient special effects, I really do love the original King Kong from the 40s. Usually I think people are full of sh*t when they say they prefer some old black and white version of a movie, but in this case I'm one of them.

What's with all these remakes and sequels? Doesn't anyone have original ideas anymore?

I'm sure there are plenty of original ideas out there, they just can't secure the funding. The studios look at a remake, and think, it's a sure thing, instead of something untried.

From what I read, cable tv, video rentals/sales have cut deep into movie studios over the last couple of decades. Add to that the emergence of Independant studios, and the pool of money that the big studios are fighting over is getting less rewarding. They are becoming very risk adverse.

I'll see it just not in the theaters...

On another note, I run a high screen rez 2000 x 1600 and quicktime movies are always a set size (always small) any way to make them go full screen

i think it looks cool. I am sure there are going to be tons of cool stuff that are going to be in the movie. I am surprised they showed Kong in this first trailer.
