I'm with you.

I'm afraid EA killed the entire modding community with it's ranked servers though.

The boys at FH are planning to make a mod.

Frankly it was the only reason I bought the game but EA/DICE has not released the MDK yet.

Yeah, we had some good games in 42.
The beer tasted better, the women were hotter, the guns
shot straighter, the players had more respect. you didn't
have to have a super computer to play. and other stuff.
"Best. Game. Ever." no doubt about it.

Hopefully, you all won't give up on BF2 before Forgotten Hope 2, which will include the long-awaited Panzer III. I'm sure it'll take some time for them to bring out the first installment (FH is notoriously slow at rolling out patches), I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Oh I might give up on BF2 but I'll keep it around for FH2.

IMO they took the best parts of BF1942 and threw them away. While keeping some of the worst aspect of BFV.

Nothing compared to the fun to be had with vehicles in '42 and thats been totally de-emphasized for BF2

I miss the sea battles.
I miss land torpedos.
I miss the tommy gun.
I miss AT only (or engy rifle only) duels on Stalingrad.
I miss being allied on Omaha with half the team being snipers...Oh wait, I don't miss that one. ;)

The biggest thing I think that the other BF games are lacking is good map design. It's not that all of the 1942 maps were great - they weren't. But there were several maps that were well-balanced and just fun to play. I'm thinking of BoB and Iwo Jima in particular. If both sides had their act together on BoB you often ended up with a nail-biting shootout at the main allied base; I loved those. I know that the new BF2 weapons would probably change the gameplay completely, but I hope one of the first things someone does with the map editor is bring in some of the old maps. That said, I have high hopes for BF2 after a patch or two.

I miss 42 'cuz I could actually shoot down planes in the AA guns. And I was semi-good (IMO). I suck in BF2.

That's one of my big one's also Ralph.

Poor map design and absolutly NO desert combat maps to have fun in vehicles.

Gazala, El Alemein, Tobruk, Market Garden with the German armor over the stone bridge. Oh sorry HaVoc, Mahket Gahden.
