Downfall
If any of you haven't seen this film, you should. It follows the last days of the third reich centering around Hitlers bunker.

It was just a devastatingly good piece of film-making. Chilling right to it's core. As near perfect as any film I think I have ever watched.
Of course if you have a problem with subtitles you may be happier with the teletubbies latest dvd but it's your loss...

It is very good. I remember seeing a documentary featuring dull-length interviews with Traudl Junge shortly before she died. The movie is faithful to her eye-witness testimony.
Bruno Ganz is a great actor. Eerie resemblance to Hitler.

I'll try to see it. HBO has a great movie called 'Conspiracy'
Kenneth Branagh, Stanley Tucci, Colin Firth. It's a re-enactment of the real life meeting the high level Nazi officers had to form the 'Final Solution'. It's seriously chilling to listen to these people calmly, rationally plan this out. They're so thorough and rational that it's hard to believe they're talking about genocide. I would have felt more comfortable if they seemed like raving lunatics instead calm calculating politicians.

Conspiracy was good but hitler rise of evil was really very poor. It's a shame because I had thought better of the actor Robert Carlyle but he played the role a a charicature, it had no depth to it whatsoever.
From what I've learned, Hitler was actually a very charming, charismatic person. One imagines he'd have to be in order to completely seduce a whole country. It's not the creepy ones you have to look out for.
Oh yeah, Saddam, too, was described as a very charming person by people who met him.
