I think newegg is too expensive. Try http://www.pricewatch.com They sort various vendors by price. I use it all the time to buy my hardware.

I don't understand that reasoning but to each his own. Personally, I shop based upon price. Why buy the same exact product from the more expensive vendor?

Because they are not the most expensive vendor, they have great customer service, and they are reputable. I buy from newegg all the time.

Do you really buy that crap or do you work for their marketing department?
I'm sure if you looked you could find MORE expensive vendors. I didn't say they were the MOST expensive. I said they were MORE expensive.
When I build a PC $20 to $50 dollar markup PER PART is way too much.
I have never had a problem using other vendor's customer support or in returning defective parts or any problems at all.

So you've been indoctrinated into the NewEgg philosophy and you feel better because you pay more for your parts than other people do for theirs. That's great. Just say so.

If you just want a chip to do gaming, go with the single core. Duel cores are for heavy multitasking purposes. The FX-55/57 is the best but a decent chip will do. A athlon 4000 939 socket will do, like what Antonius said.

We should see some more games optimized for dual core over the next few years... Basically you can buy a faster single core chip (athlon64 4000) or a slower dual core (X2 3800).

How long are you going to keep this thing? If you plan on using it for a while I would get a dual core. If its just for a short time (1 year) then I would just get the single core.
