Bowling for Columbine
This is actually a serious thread...whoa.
It's a documentary, about guns in America. It begins like this:
"It's another normal day in America, farmers are waking up to their fields, mothers are sending out their children to school, regular blue collars are going to work. And our president just bombed another country who's president's name we can't even pronounce, while last night another child was shot on the streets of America. Ah yes, it's another normal day in this great country."
It's nothing but the truth that this movie contains, it centered around the Columbine massacre, and the tragic events that followed afterwards. The director also even goes to Canada to find out about our laws on guns. We have 7 million gun owners in Canada out of 30 million ppl, yet our homicide rates are far far much lower than that of the US. More on that..
He even interviewed Charlton Heston to get his opinion on how a 6 year old boy found a gun in his uncle's house and took it to school and shot another 6 year old girl...Heston didn't even say anything, he just walked out on the interview. Even when the director showed the picture of the girl to him, Heston kept on walking, not even taking a d**n f**king look! To make it worst, Heston and his NRA compatriots (Heston is the President of the NRA btw) actually went to Columbine 10 days after the shooting and held a pro-gun rally! He did the God d**ned same thing a day after the girl was shot in Flint, Michigan! He even lied about not knowing what happened the day before when footage from the rally showed him talking about the girl!!!!!
There's so much more, you have to see all of this for yourself!
It's worth watching and I strongly suggest anyone with half a brain who gives a d**n about human lives to see it... (I just feel really strongly about the subject covered in this movie.)
If it's not playing at your local theatre, you can download the screener, really good quality. I have it ...
On a side note, it was funny how he was surprised about how our politicians makes sense about how to run a proper society..and even more so when he walked around downtown Toronto opening up ppl's houses and finding they're not locked because we Canadians feels safe.
Our unemployment rate is twice as high as the States yet we don't have ppl committing as many crimes as they do...... that's just a small comparison...the movie compared the States to Britain, Germany, Australia, Japan as well.
He interviewed a lot of ppl as to why Americans are so violent..they all say because they had a violent past...well the director replied by saying, "what about Germany? They slaughtered 12 million Jews just 60 years ago, Britain ruled the world for 300 years with a gun, Ghandi and his followers even drove them out without using a weapon." To which the guy being interviewed said, "I have never heard of him before.." And this guy was old! like 60 years old, like geez, don't they teach human rights in American schools
I saw it downtown at the theatres but downloaded the screener too so I could see it again.

the clips from the movie at its website..download the marilyn manson interview..wow, I just got this new profound respect for him now..
For a really good laugh, download the history of America..I guarantee you it's hilarious as hell!
Hm, read the excerpts from the book Stupid White Men by Michael Moore on the website and you'll find out why Butane Lighters are not banned on air planes when toeclippers are..
He got in touch with someone who works on Parliament Hill and found out this: Because the d**n politicians bribed the Bush Administration of rednecks to keep it legal on planes so they can smoke right after they get off the d**n plane..d**n addicts.
But, why the hell is smoking banned on all airplanes and yet u can carry lighters with you on a plane at 30 000 feet in the air!?

Congratulations on finding another hot-button issue for a thread. I'll start. Michael Moore is purely driven by politics and manipulates his "facts" in order to prove his point. He is not an objective observer of society, and, as evidenced by the second link below, he is apparently a racist.

You know the scum that you find at the bottom of a pond? Michael Moore is lower than that. He is like a "shock jock" saying and doing anything and everything to keep his name in the lime-light.
"Well, we're not just gonna let you walk out of here."
"Who's we sucka!?"
"Smith and Wesson and me."

I also wonder why everyone who posts about Moore feels compelled to start by saying "it's nothing but the truth," or words to that effect. I think that they doth protest too much.
Good point.
BTW, I have a Ruger 9mm and a pump-shotgun. They don't get up at night and kill people on their own. I do.

Let's ban anything and everything that can be used irresponsibly to cause harm, accidental or otherwise. Uh, wait...that would leave us with nothing.

Dude agent, I hear ya man, I started a thread on this a while ago, I think I called it take the skinheads bowling. it is a good movie, he doesn't alter facts he just emphisizes them and you can see how he does it, then disreguard it and still get great ideas out of it. people are stupid, one guy says he sucks and gives a reason, then everyone else joined in. Good luck agent I really understand why you made this thread though, great idea, wrong group.

Thanks Tool, I'm stupid I guess. I'll tell you what though. I don't care what they do in Canada, the point you gun control nuts need to learn is that the Second Amendment is a fact. You want to get rid of guns, fine; bring it on. We'll see if you can get the votes to amend the Constitution. What you people need to realize is that the Constitution doesn't protect everything you approve of (abortion, affirmative action), and it doesn't proscribe everything you disapprove of (the death penalty). It also doesn't necessarily allow for every measure you people press for in between.
The fact is that many, many people in this country own firearms and use them responsibly. If you don't like them, more power to you. In fact, as a Canadian, be happy you live in your country and we live in ours. As you pointed out, Agent, Canada has a substantial number of gun owners, but fewer murders. So does Switzerland. That merely proves my point, that not only do guns don't kill people, they don't turn regular people into crazed killers either. There are other factors at work on murder rates. You mention unemployment rates in Canada, but why not think through to a conclusion? If Canadians also own guns, and if Canada has higher unemployment rates than the U.S., maybe neither of those factors is the big contributor. This might mean that your anti-gun crusade isn't the answer.

I DO NOT WANT TO GET RID OF GUNS!!!!!! you know what I got out of the film, why are we killing eachother when we're not really all that different from other places. THAT IS PERFECT FACT! to argue me you have to 1 see the movie and then 2 make your own oppinions about what you saw, mike has his oppinions but those are not mine, so do not attack my view as if I got it infuzed in me by mike meyers, thats all.

On the previous thread about this guy, the big point about his film was that all he does is present facts. Nothing wrong with that, right? To the young and emotional or the simple-minded, no. However, when you examine any debate you realize that there are 'facts' on both sides of the debate. Merely presenting the 'facts' of only one side of the debate is going to give a biased prespective of the debate. Beware anyone trying to make a point while hiding behind the guise of 'only presenting the facts.' Also, beware the illogical comparison (i.e. lighter vs clippers).
There were some excellent posts on the old thread that revealed some of the inaccuracies of some of Moore's supposed 'facts.' Whoever found those links, those would be great to see again.
