Please let the Patriot Act expire!
Iether let it expire or fix it so the FBI can't act like a secret police anymore!
- staff members are busy;
- it's not the subject that causes the problem, it's how the posters behave;
- it's a question of self-control. Funny you should ask.

Chacal, it's a simple question. No lame excuses like 'staff members are busy' please. You yourself post in the damn threads, numerous times, over a span of days. Seriously, it's a completely lame excuse.
Yes or no, is the rule lifted? Are the religious threads also now allowed?
I am serious when asking.
There have been numerous lately that have had nothing done to them, and I would very much like to know if the reason is is because the rule is lifted but there just hasn't been a post about it.

Well, screw it, I'll throw down before it gets closed. We don't need the Patriot Act, because according to Bush, he can do anything he wants to protect the country, including wiretaps on US citizens. I listened to his speech the other day. He claimed that all this was covered the moment congress authorized him to use force. WTF???? If you had bet me $1000 that a president in my lifetime would do this (post Nixon) I would have thought you were crazy. Even if you're a fan of Bush, and feel confident that he's using the wiretaps in the best interest only, consider this. We have checks and balances to prevent a tyrant from *legally* taking control of our country. We try real hard to make sure there are no loop holes. So, instead of Bush, imagine some other guy, years down the road, a bad, bad guy, Maybe a guy who planned for years to become a 'king' of sorts, no term limits, President for life. Imagine he become the president legitimately, and we get involved in some minor conflict, similar to or smaller than Iraq. Given what Bush claims is legal, and is setting the precedent for, some evil guy would have the following powers: the ability to listen in on phonecalls, emails of anyone that his appointed CIA/FBI director sees as a threat. No explanation, no independant body to decide yeah or nay. Couple that with the power to also remove a person to a foreign prison, to be held as an enemy combatant, no trial, no lawyer, no presentation of evidence required. Hell, legally, this person could be just investigated then disappear without a trace. This person could be anyone, average joe, journalist, political foe. Don't just imagine what Bush is doing with it, imagine these powers being used by other people, people you don't trust. There is a reason why we have checks and balances folks. This is the scariest shit I've ever seen. A few months ago I said that McCarthyism was worse and that the pendulum would swing the other way soon. Now I have to say this is ten thousand times worse. Even Nixon knew what he did was wrong. Like I say, this is the scariest shit I've ever seen in my lifetime.

Jimmy I think that as long as things don't get out of hand with personal attacks that they will be allowed to continue. If we can agree to disagree instead of getting personal then I feel like it's okay. Just my opinion I don't even work here
