space combat games?

Are there any good first person space combat games out? Something like freespace with modern graphics?

Sorry Mugzy I can't help you out. But I too would like to know of a good space combat game. But a real time strategy one. I played Homeworld and Homeworld2. I think they were RTS. I enjoyed the single player. If anyone knows of a game that is similar to Homeworld I would check it out.

I hear they will be making a star wars rts soon, i can't wait for that. Hopefully they make a galactic conquest mod for bf2, now that would be friggin sweet.

GC for BF42 is really great.
I used to admin a canadian server but the mod rocks so much the server blew up.

I want a first person space combat game where you only fly ships. It does not even have to be online.

Something along the lines of freespace 2.

Anyone ever played Orbiter? http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/orbit.html

It's not a game, but a real physics based space simulator. Pretty cool, but it really helps if you have a little background in orbital mechanics.

It would be cool if someone made a space combat mod for it.

Get ahold of X-Wing Alliance. You can probably pick it up for $15.

It has a mission/storyline mode as well as MP/Free For All.

X2 The Threat is as good as you can get as far as space games at the moment. You dont have to follow the plot, you can just go around killing stuff if you want.
