need some tech help

Postby Camel toe joe » Fri Apr 07, 2006 8:14 am

I work as a local admin in my office, I ran into a problem I never had to deal with. Basicly I have a user (xp pro) that encrypted some files with xp's file encryption. Now I was trying to move his data to a new machine and I get access denied even when logged in with the users account. Anyone have a work around? From what I been reading I think the data is lost and to be honest I don't care he shouldn't have encrypted it in the first place or he should have backed up the certs at least.. Would still like help if anyone has an idea

You' have to decypt the file on his old machine. It's probable the two don't have the same key length.
