I don't care what celebrities do. I watch their movies, not their personal lives. Doesn't change anything to me. Mel Gibson makes damn good movies.

Sorry don't agree with you there, if what TMZ is reporting is the truth:
That he was arrested and degraded Jews, called a female cop "sugar tits" and so on. Then this guy needs to be branded worse than John Rocker was.

BUT that all happens after we get the truth:

Thats the 64 million dollar question right now, did the sheriff/department try to cover up what his action and is he getting preferential treatment.

i'll wait for that info to surface.

Does what he did have an affect on your real life? Does what he did change the fact that his movies are good? Do you think he is the only person to ever get a dui and act that way and say the things he did? The fact that he is a celeb. makes the difference. It's going to sell magazines and give the tv something to talk about. If it was you who got the dui, no one would give a shit and you wouldn't be on the cover of a magazine. Honestly, who really gives a shit? Leave the guy alone and let him deal with it like anyone else who has gotten a dui.

I would guess celebrities get pulled over and let go for drunk driving all the time. Just pulling a number out of my ass, but I'd lay odds that a big name celebrity can get pull over while driving drunk a minimum of ten times without actually getting arrested. Just sign an autograph, take a picture with the cop, and it's 'On your way Mr.Gibson, try not to kill anyone'
Even better odds for super hot famous actresses. I'll bet Scarlett Johansson couldn't get arrested for DUI if she tried.

Gibson just acted like a douche and let his real personality out, so he got arrested for real.

What if Tinm@n is Jewish? That would make a difference to him. Hell, Hermann Goerring could be a better actor than Tom Hanks but I don't think a Jewish guy is going to appreciate his films the same way.

People would give a shit if i recieved DUI (employer, insurance, wife, friends...etc...) the fact that im not famous to get a 'warning' or to have possible coverup on my actions does strike me as... bias.

His actions for this incedint might not have an affect on me personally but I don't care for the anti-semetic remarks, and so i will say "fuck Mel Gibson".

If you don't care what he does in his personal life, or the views he pedals in his movies... then fine, go give him your $ and see passion or apocalypto.

Just because he is recognized by millions makes it ok for him to a reject? oh pleez!

Yea but he is so naive that he didn't know it was being used as a racial slur. If you read the history of "tar baby", it was used to describe somebody or something in a "sticky mess". It's not like he called somebody a tar baby. He didn't say "Hey, Jesse Jackson... You're a tar baby!!"
It's just one of those situations that you ask yourself, "how can he not know what that means?" But believe me, there are a lot of people that are not too hip or older or just old school that say things that in today's world may have been switched to mean something else.

I think we should stop using the word "cracker" because as a "whitey" I am offended. We should now start calling them, "light airy wafers".

Man - people need to get over themselves. If someone's getting all bent out of shape over shit people say - and they're not saying it TO you or ABOUT you - therapy may be needed.

As for Gibson - well - he makes mediocre, somewhat redundant films. I'll continue to somewhat enjoy the silliness of the Lethal Weapon series and my memories of Braveheart and Braveheart 2 (aka The Patriot). After those, I haven't really cared for his work too much. I didn't even bother seeing most of them.

This Gov/Tar Baby thing is a prime example of stupidity meets the squeaky wheel. Should he have known it's taboo meaning? Probably, but it's not like he said the infamous n-word... Yeah, you know it -

Apparently this guy is considering running for prez in '08. If he doesn't know the implicaitions of saying tar baby then he would make for an excellent prez. So since I wasn't there I shouldn't care what he say's or believe in? So when someone in Washington D.C. say's something about another country, and it's totally against how I feel, i should just forget it and hope the problem solves it self?
