Dane Cook
Is not funny.
I have to post this every time I watch that idiot trying to do stand-up, it's the only thing that calms me down and saves me getting on a plane to try and strangle him with his own intestines...

Re: Dane Cook
Not as famous as him there aren't. If he was working the pub circuit then fine, you get to go watch him in your home town and throw bottles full of urine at him, but the fucker is everywhere and he plain sucks. Even when it gets close to funny it's a joke you've generally heard told before and better, generally by a female comedian as his humour is a little too oestrogen centric for a man to be telling. It's the kind of humour you see friends use to try and get into some hotties pants, it's not really very funny but chicks dig it. It's very fucking thin when you try and stretch it out to an hour and a half and anything more than 5 minutes just gets annoying...

Re: Dane Cook
There are plenty of people as big as him that are not as funny. One name that comes to mind is Whoopi Goldberg. She may not be big now but she had her day and I have no idea why. Larry the Cable Guy. Talk about no depth and been done before.
While we are at it. Who is your favorite comic? Now or ever. I have Sirius satellite radio and they have an all stand up comedy channel. I can't get enough of it. I like Lewis Black but they make it to easy for him. He just has to read the headlines.
Jim Gaffigan is a funny bastid. He cracks me up every time he is on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFFTwnYXI20

Re: Dane Cook
Nah her stand up was better, the films were pretty annoying though I agree.
Re: Dane Cook
He's from my home state but I'm not posting to defend him, but just the opposite. I'll give him props for making it big and putting his time and effort in to get the success he has now. I know he's been doing stand up for an insane amount of time, somewhere around 18 years. I thought his stand up was somewhat funny the first time around; the first set he had that got big with the alphabet robot joke and etc. After he toured with that set and everyone started throwing up the "su-fi" (super finger) he became really annoying to me. His acting is awful too.
I didn't mind the humor and what they were trying to achieve in Employee of The Month, but I don't feel he did the character justice. He was almost robotic-like in every scene and didn't put any emotion into the character. Almost every scene he had a serious face on and hardly any emotion. Not to mention I hate Jessica Simpson so her being in the movie only made my opinion of it lessen.
I was already on the other side of the fence hating Dane Cook when his new material came out and that just put the icing on the cake. It's almost like these jokes were just a continuation of his last set but composed of the jokes that weren't good enough to make it on the first time. His humor is down right stupid. His stand up to me is now childish. I will admit many people in Mass have similar humor but to have the same humor in every joke is really annoying. He creates stories that aren't possible and makes exaggerations to the extreme. All of this on top of his childish personality of screaming, humping, silly faces, and the mic shoved down his throat in a c*ck sucking-like fashion.
I really hate that you made a thread on this tool. I really dislike this guy as well, as you can see. I understand comedians have a set genre or style to their stand-up. If annoying was a style or genre he would be the king of it. Props to you dane cook, here's my su-fi to you

As far as comics go I do enjoy Jim Gaffigan. Right now my favoirte is Mitch Hedberg. He was funny without even trying. I loved his style and delivery. R.I.P.

Re: Dane Cook
I agree Dane Cook suck. He has a great delivery, very animated, but his material is absolutely pointless and unfunny. He might as well be reading the phone book out loud. He would certainly make it *sound* funny, but ultimately he's still be just reading the phone book.
My current favorite comedian is Doug Stanhope. He's drunk, brutal, caustic and angry, that style just cracks me up.

Yeah, I loved Mitch Hedberg too. You really nailed it, it was like he was just telling you a story, not trying to be funny...and yet was so bizarre you couldn't help but laugh.

I really love that in every one of his sets he has at least 4-5 jokes that people just scratch their heads at. Typically they are so easy and dumb that the joke flies right over everyone's head which makes them even funnier.
I just remembered another New Englander comic that I dislike; Sarah Silverman. Give anyone a mic and they can make crude racist comments that everyone mistakes for funny. Some where deep inside her she really is a racist.

Re: Dane Cook
Seriously he's less funny than those little signs that say 'you don't have to be mad to work here but it helps'.
Re: Dane Cook
He is a douche bag that appeals to douche bags and wiggers/ chavs alike...
There are plenty in the general area, so thats that.

Re: Dane Cook
i know it's been said a few times already but i had to post my agreement.
I really don't understand how people laugh at him. he might be alright to talk to at a party or something but to be on stage spewing that crap is just ridiculous. i've sat in a room with others who enjoyed it an just watched. Not once in the 45 minutes did I even smile.
maybe we are all just getting too old...but honestly I don't see how younger kids see him as funny either.
