Help, I am In a Quandry???
This is mainly for those that I play with on BF and the new Raven Shield Group.
Ok I messed up. BF and this server were one of my first online gaming experiences. I signed up early with an old high school nick. But now I am noticing a huge problem, my nick is hard to work with on TS. People don't know how to pronounce it , and it sounds like so many other terms. (The other night in RS people were saying "up" and I thought they where saying "sa Nup" This confusion occurs with any word ending in nop mop pop etc.. I go "what").
I wish that i would have registered with another nick. I am not going to ask ecgn to change it because it isn't an emergency.
So do any of you have any advice?
I have thought of the following options:
1) Re-register with a new nick. I would lose all the posts, and it would take time for some that I regularly deal with to know the difference. This might also break some etiquette.
2) Play with a new nick and use my signature at the bottom of all posts to state that I play under the name ______
3) Just add something simple to the front of my nick in BF (like my first name.. steveSannop.. or MrSannop) that would keep recognition but give something easier to say and recognize on TS.
4) Just drop the p with the ingame nick. Go with Sanno in stead.. might be easier to hear and say on TS.
5) Just keep it as it is... please let me know if you haven't had any problem with the nick on TS.
This is just a thought, and I was just throwing this out there... any ideas would be appreciated.

Simple question here. Are you fond of your current nick? I mean this in all seriousness. Before playing games online I used to use the nick Catseye. Wasn't too attached to it and felt that I needed something that I felt described me (or my idea of me) in some way. Settled on Doomfarer, and have never been tempted to change it, not even after the DoomfarMer mishap I ran into during a shoutcast of one my matches. I do make sure that anyone who mispronounces my name knows the REAL way to say it. If you are attached to Sannop, keep it. If not, then think on what you want and ask if a nick change would be possible. It never hurts to ask (well outside of women anyway).

Good question.
One thing to do is just begin using an "in-game" and TS nick that you want people to easily recognize and pronounce and then keep the Sannop here in the Forums with a change to your Sig and even text of the new Nick somewhere on your avatar. I think that most people will easily make the association pretty quickly.

Thanks guys.
Doom, Good way to look at it. I am not really attached to the nick. I am attached to the familiarity that I have with the other regs. That produces a "catch-22". The regs would easily be able to jump to a new nick but they also know how to pronouce the current one. I actually like my other choice on the other BF server that I was a member of (until I stopped going there... why go? ecgn rules). I was SweeneyTodd after the role I just did. Purely on an attachment level... I like that nick more. I have done a ton of roles, but none as fullfilling as that.
Camel, good idea. Snap has a ring to it. But then again.. you are camel toe.. and snap is close to snapper.
???
Freedom, It is Raven shield that makes me think of changing. RS requires such quick communication.
hmmmm???

I think all of the regulars should abandon our current nick names and then get new ones that are subtle (or sometimes not so subtle) references to vaginas. Mine new nick will be Lippy McLabia . . . or maybe Brooke N. Himan . . . hmmmm
j/k
