I dont know if you all know this or not, but Pepsi and Yahoo! are sponsoring a One Billion Dollar sweepstakes.

THats right... one winner will win a billion dollars, and one winner will win a milllion dollars..

I plan on drinking Pepsi products for the next few months, in hope that ill win a billion :D

There has to be some catch, because there's no company on the face of the planet that's giving away a billion dollars, contest or not.

Probably give you a million a year or something like that, not all at once. Hell , I'd be happy with 1 million a year, or even $100,000.

This is what I mean by catches. Pepsi very well could pay out a million per year, but then they'd technically be paying for 1000 years(and I highly doubt Pepsi will be around in 1000 years). I'm sure someone will win a lot of money, but I don't think Pepsi has any intention of ever paying out a full billion.

The One Million Dollar Prize will be awarded as a one-time lump-sum payment by Sponsor to the Event Winner. If the Event Winner also wins the One Billion Dollar Prize in the manner described in Rule 15, such One Billion Dollar Prize will be awarded in the form of an assignment of Sponsor's rights under a prize indemnity policy (the "Policy") issued to Sponsor by an insurance subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. (the "Insurer"). The Policy shall provide for payment of the One Billion Dollar Prize over 40 years pursuant to the following payment schedule: $5 million per year for each of years 1 through 20; $10 million per year for each of years 21 through 39 and a lump sum payment of $710 million in year 40 (the "40-Year Payment Schedule"). The Policy shall also provide that the One Billion Dollar Prize winner, if any, may instead elect to receive a one- time payment of $250,000,000 (the "Lump Sum Option"), which represents the approximate present value of the amounts received under the 40-Year Payment Schedule calculated using a 4.5% discount rate.

Taken straight from the rules.

The bigger catch is that it is unlikely that anyone will get the big prize at all.

Does anybody really take these stupid contests seriously anyway?

"Ooh, McDonalds is playing Monopoly again! Better go down and get some Big Macs! Ooh, another giveaway by Pepsi! Check the bottlecaps for prizes!"

I remember one of those things, I checked the caps on a six pack of sprite or something... EVERY one said the same thing...

"You are not a winner. Please try again."

Sadly, this turned out to be a trend.... but that's another subject...

Despite Pepsi figuring out a great method for a possible billion dollar payout, they've mdae it impossible to actually win it.

The odds are incalculable that someone with a random string of numbers will match randomly chosen numbers picked by a monkey. They might as well base the prize on whether the monkey can beat the devil in a fiddle contest.

It kind of reminds me of the Taco Bell thing where they stuck that raft out in the middle of the Pacific ocean and said if the Mir Space station hit it they'd give a free taco to every person in the USA
