A father and pilot lost yesterday morning
A good friend of mine lost his father in a plane crash yesterday at 9am. His father, Tom Southern, was a great acrobatic pilot/trainer (placed #16 in the nationals in 2001).
He was working on his routine for an upcoming competition when the right wing of his CAP10b broke off at the top of a loop. He was too close to the ground to bail and crashed into a wooded area. He was 60 and had been flying as an acrobatic pilot for 5 years.
They are going to have a memorial at the airport next saturday where his ashes will be spread from a skydive.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Edited: I found this shot of him in an airshow.
In Tom Sourthern's memory
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth.
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings,
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace,
Where never lark, or even eagle, flew;
And, while with silent, lifting mind i've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Hey just earlier this week a drunk driver crashed right infront of me and died, he was a father of about the same age, I called 911, did what I could, he was alive but couldn't hold on. Just so you know, I totally fell the pain, and best wishes for the family and friends.
That's truly sad, I hope I won't have to experience an sort of feelings like these.
Sorry to hear about your friends father Mugzy.

I'm sorry
