Which was the greater loss in the entertainment industry this week?

Postby St!nkf!nger » Thu Jul 31, 2003 2:05 pm

Well everyone and their brother knows about Bob Hope dying this week, but yesterday another entertainment legend died. Who? Sam Phillips. I can hear you now "who the hell is Sam Phillips?" Well I'm going to tell you if you don't know already. A bunch of years ago he founded a little record label called Sun Records in Memphis Tennessee, and then went on to discover and sign a few acts you may have heard of: Howlin' Wolf, Ike Turner, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and...what are those guys names?...*snaps fingers* *snaps fingers*... oh yeah, Johnny Cash and Elvis. No small feat. Besides this, he's one of the few that's been inducted into the Rock 'n Roll and Country Music halls of fame. Being a music nut and huge Johnny Cash fan I'm going with Mr. Phillips. So I ask you, which was the bigger loss this week?
