How many of you file share?

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Do you regularly share files on networks like Kazaa, Shareware, Emule, Edonkey etc,.?

  • mp3s (978)
  • all kind of software (FREE SOFTWARE) (well, maybe not all) of them, but... (34)
  • Video's (118)
  • DVD's (34)
  • Pictures (11)
  • More!!! (the rest)

Since I live in the US, (unlike some people in Europe) Im thinking about quitting, its just unsafe. But then I look at the number of users on my Kazaalite network and see 5 million people and am tempted to start up again. All in all though its risky and Im not sure what to do.

Just get KaZaA lite and turn off the share option and your all set.

LOL, thats funny :) But does that mean you can only get into trouble for uploading? Seems to me downloading would get you intro trouble too.

I could be wrong, but I think that if you're in the US, you can disable the sharing of the files on your computer and you should be ok. Then you just download off of people who are not in the US where it is not illegal to share. Like I said, I could be wrong.

The only illegal part of it is in its name "File Sharing". I am pretty sure right now you can download as many files as you want, but uploading them or sharing is what will get you nabbed. And like every thing else its revolved around money, the musicians want more friggen money like their not already rich enough so now they have to sue us to get their 25k dollar ring. Which normal people would buy a car or pay for college etc.

I used to have Kazaa lite but files downloading has been very difficult , no one has the song or file I want, but i had 1632 song sharing in the net, I wont have any till I reinstall it and get running.
but I am using Emule too especially for downloading movies that I am not very sure if they are good enough to waste 6 euros / 6 dollars to view in cinema.

So far it's only the Recording Industry that's going after file sharing in court... so, I personally generally avoid MP3 downloads... anything else is fair game, since there hasn't been any other types of companies going after file sharing...

I don't think the impact of filesharing is as significant as people think, and plus music companies have been gouging people for years now on the price of CDs... and, the quality of the music has gone down IMO... market forces are sinking them, not filesharing...

I don't think it's illegal in Canada, if it is... no one cares about canadians any way, at least the RIAA doesn't

There is nothing wrong with file sharing, but a lot of the files that are shared are generally bad IMO.

only thing i use is WINMX for mp3's

i do and will share all that i have and still have good contacts to get most everything i need.

gaming is a different story...all my games that i play i will buy...although i hate it cause i think the software CO's are still screwing us bigtime

the record industry is mostdefinitely reaming us...consider this:

avg CD price $18
cost to make the CD=$.05 maybe
royalties to artists=$.25-.50 per cd maybe

where the hell is the other $17 bucks going...lining the record CO's execs freaking pockets...its highway robbery for the consumers and the artists..and it has been going on for years and years...so i say screw the record CO and d/l as many MP3's as possible an make CD's for all yer friends.
I have not failed...I have just found 10,000 ways that don't work.
