Postby mattdeez » Mon Dec 08, 2003 1:39 pm

What is a good video card...that wont cost over $200 and has at least 128mb. I want to upgrade.
I currently have a GeForce 3 Ti 200 64mb DDR.

YOu might also consider

Albratron Geforce FX5900 128MB Video card Model FX5900PV Retail

Specifications:
Chipset/Core Speed: GeForce FX 5900/400MHz
Memory/Effective Speed: 128MB DDR/850MHz
BUS: AGP 1X/2X/4X/8X

It is $199 at newegg, free shipping.

Anyone know how the 5900 fairs against the 9600? I would guess it is significantly faster but that is just a guess.

the 5900 is better than the 9600pro, for the most part. I'm not sure how well it runs when you enable AA/AF

look for some reviews of it at tomshardware.com, scroll to the bottom and click on graphics cards

The 9600 Pro kicks the shit out of the FX 5900 in ALL DX9 related games. Sorry, but you'd be better with at least a Radeon 9600 Pro - the GeForce FX's don't cut it when it comes to the future games that use DX9 (like a lot of current games).
