What do you want for Christmas?

Postby Keekanoo » Mon Dec 15, 2003 5:24 pm

;) Ok, beyond good-will on earth and peace to all non-gender or species specific creatures...what do you REALLY want 'Ol Jolly to drag down the flue-shoot? (that would be chimney in normal jargon)

Personally, I want a remote-control airplane. Or helicopter. Anything that can carry good optical equipment and can make it up to the pent-house sun-deck where that gorgeous stripper sun-....ok, 'nuff of that...

OR

Hurdy-gurdy. Not much luck there. The ones I like are hand-made in England and are a cool 5,000 grand American. it's a musical-instrument, for those that don't know. Kind of a hybrid between violin and piano. Popular in the 16th-19th century.

OR

Hand-glider. With insurance policy :D Did you know most insurance companies won't consider you if you're an active hand-glider for life-insurance? Wimps. Anyway, I'd need to upgrade my vehicle to carry the damned thing... between that and the fact that I don't think it can fit in the shoe-box sized presents under the tree tells me things arn't looking good on that front.

OR

Lap-top computer. Nothing fancy. Just enough to do my writing and hike the dog same time. Ability to play Wolf via satelite-hook-up would be nice :D

Hmmm.... that's about it, I think.

Its wierd, Im young, you'd think I wanted something when infact I can't really think of anything and could give two shits what I got. I'll try and think of something I want and post it maybe someone will get it for me besides that fat, smelly, old guy who always yells at me at the mall named Sanata, haha jk.

'Hurdy Gurdy' as a name has been used in a number of songs...most notably the Rolling Stones, Led-Zepplin and Creme to name a few.

Contemporary pop-bands that use it would be.... dam, I'm drawing a blank.... I just bought the cd with Siren and it's in my car Mathew Good Band?

B/N the 16-19th century it was the most popular street-level musical instrument as they were produced everywhere and were referred to as 'an orchestra in one instrument'.... which sounds a lot more cool in the original German expression of the time which I've long forgotten. I've been to some jam-bashes where the hurdy gurdy, supported by a few flutists, a lot of drummers (doom-ba drums, similar to the inuit flat-round drum, beaten with a small wooden paddle or the finger-tips), and a violinists or two created some stunning 'sweeping' music. It produces a sound that seeps into your soul, writhes around inside of you and tugs you easily into an almost trance-like state. Very cool instrument.

Keek.

BUSTED

This just in.... my gf, in not wanting to offend me by purchasing a gift I won't like or is the wrong style (I'm picky, what can I say) wants to take me down to a store so I can pick out my own gift.

Anyone else have this problem? I dunno... I guess I'm the cause of it, but the whole thing doesn't sit well with me....
