Got UT2004 yet?

Postby Xythar » Thu Feb 12, 2004 10:35 pm

I downloaded the demo and its really fun...although the vechs are a bit sloppy, it seems like its fun. But the real deal is the preformance people want. the UT games have become a benchmark for many gamers. Im running a

2.8 Ghz P4
1024 DDR RAM
Radeon 9600XT 128
Win XP

I range from 30-70 fps depending on the situation. Pretty good for a cheap card.

I was so disappointed by UT2k3 and Unreal 2I do not even care about 2k4. Plus, I have pretty much given up on the arcade shooters(as in rocket launchers, plasma guns, etc unless based on a franchise like Star Wars).

For what its worth, I know a lot of people who have been dissapointed with UT2k3 and the latest Unreal game.. but after giving 2k4 a shot, they feel as if this game has deemed itself worthy. I'd say give it a shot, and try out one of ECGN's 32 player servers! Definitelty a great and fun game.. that new mode keeps everyone busy!

Edit: just checked server list and answered my own question I'll be wasting some time there today.

As for people thinking this is just another UT2k3 it's not, they got the feel of the game right this time. Just feels more like the original don't know why but UT2K3 had this kinda detatched feeling to it but 2k4 fixed that IMO. Anyone know if 2k4 is gonna have all the content of 2k3 but reworked?

Also heard something about a rebate for 2k3 owners a while ago anyone know details?

Count me in as one of the people who loved UT, thought UT2k3 sucked, but is LOVING the UT2k4 Demo.

if you like Vehicles, then Onslaught mode is the way to go. It's setup like Planetside, where you capture small bases (Nodes) in the order that they are linked, until you get to the enemys base.

The Vehicles are pretty well balanced, and You can't steal vehicles from the other side (unless the other side gets in, moves it, and then abandons it).

Hell, its only a 200 Meg demo. How much time would you actually be wasting by downloading it and trying it out? Maybe an hour?

Add in HOURS of playtime! This is sooo much fun! :D

It's definitely a good break from BF. Although BF is a lot of fun, every once in a while, one needs to just run and gun, and blow a bunch of shite up. Its well deserved. And running people over, and listen to the guy say "ROAD KILL!" haha.. gets me every time!

It's too crazy... can't even tell what's going on or who I'm supposed to shoot at... not to mention, where's the rocket launcher? That was half the fun of UT, firing off six missiles at somebody... :D

That AT rocket is pretty cool, though...

The Pace is Much faster than BF. Play it for a day or two, then you realize how much of BF is just running around trying to find someone to kill (which is a lot of BF's appeal.)

The weapon loadouts change between the various gametyes, and the Rocket Laucher doesn't make an appearance in Onlsaught.

Im sure it will be there in more of the Onslaught maps. We've only seen one, and I can't get enough of it :)

How is it mindless? :P Have you ever played capture the flag in UT?

Once you get used to the pace and action of these kind of games (UT, Quake) It makes you a better FPS player overall. Playing infantry in BF is peanuts compared to some of the matches in UT or Quake.

Just noticed the nice ingame chat feature in 2k4 even lowers ingame sounds when you talk very nice indeed.
