Wahoo! American Politics!
Update on the upcoming election!
George Bush has released documents showing he served in the Texas Air National Guard during Vietnam, for some reason they can't seem to find anyone who remembers seeing him there.
Then we have John Kerry, running on a partial platform of how he was a Vietnam "hero", said this after returning from the war and posing in pictures with Jane Fonda (better know to an older generation as "Hanoi Jane")
..."Dressed in his combat fatigues and ribbons, he told Congress that U.S. soldiers had "raped, cut off ears, cut off heads … randomly shot at civilians … in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan." He later acknowledged that he did not witness the crimes himself but had heard about them from others. "...
Later at a demonstration on the steps of the capital he threw his medals on the grounds with several other veterans and walked away. Evidentally though he threw some other guys medals away and kept his so he could hang them on his office wall once elected.
And during the MIA/POW hearings at the very end of the eighties beginning of the nineties he ramrodded thru decisions to announce there was no evidence of POW/MIA's in Viet Nam in order normalize relations with them. Even though there was some evidence. He then had documents that could show this destroyed!
Way to hold the faith with your fellow soldier you absolutely worthless F*$.
Why the hell is anyone making an issue of wether Georgie porgie puddin pie was in the guard or Kerry was a two-faced back-stabbing idiot. We had Clinton in twice and he didn't even try to cover the fact he didn't even want to come close to serving. Here Bill take another toke.
As many of you younger voters voting for the first time (hopefully) you are going to find that you aren't neccesarily voting for the best guy, you voting for the lesser of two evils. The curse and burden of modern Democracy in America.

Nice post. And as I'll be a first time presidential voter this coming election, I do know I'll be voting for the lesser of two evils. The guy I want to vote for doesn't exist.

I'm sure he does exist - he's just too smart to want to be President. Either that, or he values his and his family's privacy too much to want such a terrible job.

I'm doing what I do every election - voting for myself. Though I doubt I'll be elected, I can say "Yes, I voted.", and I can also say "Well, at least I didn't vote for him" regardless of who wins.
Unless of course, through some strange turn of events, I win... in which case we're all screwed.

Who the hell do i vote for...I was going to vote for kerry, but i just don't know any more

I have a good friend who served in Viet Nam. His position on flag burning - "I went to Viet Nam to preserve your right to burn the American flag." Kerry, and other vets, have as much of a right, if not more to protest war.
POW/MIA - There were far more MIAs in WW2 than Viet Nam. Why do we forget them and focus so rigorously on Viet Nam?

I understand what you are saying Jim but to say something like
Thats a pretty serious charge to level against guys who were drafted and never wanted to be there in the first place. And then to say something like .. well i didn't see that I just heard about it.
Typically two faced politician.
And thanks for the clarification there Folic. I got that article off of Yahoo news.

I like what some commentator said about the 2000 election, it was a choice between the evil of two lessers.
Anybody else read the article in Scientific American magazine about an alternative voting method using rankings? Doubt it will see national use any time soon, but perhaps it could find use in local elections... although I doubt the current parties would allow such a bill to pass in any legislature.
