TV Tuner Cards

Postby MMmmGood » Sun Apr 11, 2004 2:38 pm

Hey Guys-

I wanna be able to watch TV on my monitor and I need a TV Tuner card. I know that some graphics cards do it ( Ati 9800 AIW specifically ), but I have a 9800 Pro so theres no need for me to buy another graphics card.

Anyone know of any good PCI cards for this? A remote control would be nice too.

Thanks.

$35 PCI TV-Tuner

I have an All in Wonder 8500DV - TV tuner, video capture, S-Video, (the three little colored cable prongy dudes), the works. I love it, but it's a little slim on the power.

I agree that ATI is the way to go, if you look at the 2 bottoms one s here, theyre real good and they have remote control.

I recommend the $95 one just because it has S video as compared to composite.

Go with the TV Wonder Pro (Remote Edition)

it's got a few nice features the VE doesn't. Had mine for almost a year with no problems at all.

Thank you for not using the onboard SATA controller.. unless, of course, you have the 875 chipset.

A friend of mine had a problem with his TV Wonder as described above. Just FYI
edit: he told me m$ has a hot fix for it.

I have a Leadtech Winfast 2000 XP Deluxe. Don't be fooled by the low price.

Mmmmgood, I have the 9800aiw and I rarely use the remote. Its kinda worthless unless you are going to be watching from across the room. It has a tendency to maximize the screen when changing channels. I think this depends an what set of drivers are installed. The original ones that came with it didn't have this problem, but when I d/l the current drivers problem started. Annoying unless you have dual monitors. I think the basic ATI card is $45. Good value if you dont need the remote.

I had the problem with it going ful screen whenever I would press a button on the remote with the latest drivers, I found the setting for this and turned it off. I'll post it when I get home tonight.
