I don't see how the hell you can rehabilitate a person like that. I say sentence her to death and let God sort that one out.

Court officials decided to put her on trial after reviewing the case, a Nagasaki prefecture Family Court spokesman said. Under Japanese law, she will not be tried for criminal responsibility because she is under 14.

The sixth-grader has been in juvenile detention since last week, when she allegedly led 12-year-old Satomi Mitarai to an empty classroom during their lunch hour, slit her neck and arms with a box-cutter, and left her to bleed to death.

Investigators believe the two had exchanged nasty messages over the Internet.

THat's messed up even a 12 year old should know not to kill people. She obviously planned it out and since when is it ok to kill someone you dont' get along with on the net?!

I don't believe in God, so the whole "kill her and let him sort it out" thing doesn't sit with me.

These things are always so hard to pass judgement on- is she too young to punish for the rest of her life? Is she old enough to rehabilitate? If she is able to do this sort of thing at age 12, what will she do when she's 20? What is an appropriate response?

An eye for an eye with all these murderers. They will never be rehabilitated. If your that messed up in the head to do something like this or anything criminal, you will so something later on to hurt someone else. That is certain. Something is seriously wrong in the brain. Like Morgan Freeman said in "Shawshenk". "Rehabilitated? It's a politician's word".
People don't change. That is the bottom line. You are who you are. Look at the Dru Sjodin case. This guy was just released from 20+ years in prison and in a few days kidnapped and murdered this girl.
*My Rant*
Sorry, but basically if you willfully murder someone you should be put to death, bottom line. No matter the age.

You know....sometimes i want to take a box cutter to people out of frustration, but for some reason i hold back. Why couldnt this girl hold back? Why is she allowed to have a box cutter anyway? The only school supplies i had were crayons, and glue..mmmm...glue. Japanese girls are weird anyways. SURVEY SAYS.....kill the bitch.:ar15: :ar15:

The hard part is that every situation is different. So to apply a consistent law across the boards is not easy and this has been debated for many centuries.

I guy comes home and finds his neighbor and wife in bed. An assault ensues and one is dead on the floor from a head wound occurred in the fight.

A second guy walks into a liquor store and shoots the clerk point blank.

Should those cases be treated the same? Some will state that they should and others will disagree.

What causes a mother to roll her car and three children into the water? Obviously they are very disturbed and these are some very serious situations without easy solutions. It's just very hard for most of us to hear these stories and attempt to understand why it happened.

If only life was black and white. Can she be rehabilitated? I don't know enough about the human psyche to say. I can only offer the family my deepest sympathy's and let the law handle the accused.
