UTK4 and BF:V being released on March 15!

Postby ShellShock » Thu Mar 04, 2004 10:18 pm

Man this sucks that BOTH BF:V and UT2K4 are being released on nearly the same day! I only have enough money to afford one at the moment. In the end, BF:V is my first choice. Nothing beats the sight of 64 players duking it out all at once. Especialy on a ECGN server with TS!

Yeah, I'd stay with BF:Vietnam on this one. UT2K4 is ok if you like that mindless gung-ho FPS action but BF requires a bit of strategy and with the lush jungles and valleys of Vietnam, you just can't ask for anything better. That Cambodia Incursion map seems to really focus on infantry combat, that's a plus in my book.

I'm getting UT2k4 first because they put out an AMAZING demo while BF:V had none.

But both are on my list :D

Vietnam needs no demo. UT is just mindless shooting. /snore.

lack of AA support on 9800's in the demo would have hurt sales...

So that must be why they released the readme a few weeks early! :tard:

BIG mistake on EA's part for not releasing a DEMO first, IMO. Without the UT demo, I may not have preordered UT2k4.. but when it came out, and I played, im ALL about it now! Im really nervous about BF:V.. I know a lot of people feel EoD will always be better than it. But.. we will see.

I find that I never really use AA. The image quality difference (to me at least) does not justify the 20+ drop in FPS. So I tend to leave it off for the majority of the games I play.

Hmm.. I've already paid for Vietnam, I'm getting my 9800 next week, and Vietnam won't have the same 9800 support as UT2K4... dunno, might lay down the cash for UT as well.

Nobody knows how the game will run yet. It could be horrible on release! Thats why I am steering clear until I see some reviews.

UT's mindless shooting is the highest FPS skill you can attain. At least I know I can beat buli at something :D

Not to mention, sometimes mindless shooting is fun - especially when you want to be mindless! You don't have to worry about smackers ruining the game for you. Less worries, more blood!!! :D

The read me is 2 months old and is clearly for a BETA release.

"Thank you for purchasing Battlefield Vietnam. This readme file
contains last minute information that did not make it into
the manual, as well as more detailed information on various
features already covered in the manual
."

I doubt its a readme from a beta. they didn't take the time to say it was a BETA readme, yet they took the time to write down an issue with the beta release?

that doesn't make sense.
