I have Dish Network in a roundabout way. I have to say while I miss Comedy Central, I am more pissed with the propaganda DN is running in place of the channels that have been lost than with the lost channels themselves. The president is on there crying about how Viacom is being unreasonable. My point is if you are a big time TV provider competing with DirecTV, ATT, and all the other cable companies, I don't really care if you don't feel like you're getting a good deal. You're a big business, Viacom is a big business. If they don't want to sell to you at the price you want to pay, guess what, you aren't a victim you're still a business. If you can't afford it, quit crying about it. (Of course I know they can afford it and I don't by their professed concern for their subscribers.) Frankly, if I were Sumner Redston I would say screw DN we aren't going to do business with you period and then I would be really unreasonable.

My apartment recently switched over to a Dish Network based system, I never would have signed up with them. When the apartment told us, I explained to them that it might be a problem because I am a religious Tivo user and was concerned with the effect on me since DN doesn't offer a Tivo-based DVR. Anyway, I decided to stick out another year since I didn't care about getting HBO until the Sopranos started and figured in the worst case scenario I would be able to watch it at a buddy's house. Needless to say, while I didn't see this particular problem coming, I feel vindicated. Of course I am stuck with a shitty cable company.

Looks like the disagreement has ended, and all the channels are back. Hooray! :D

Read about it here.
