Postby Mother Hen » Tue Mar 23, 2004 2:31 pm

Does anyone know when the next generation video cards come out and where I can get some info on them? Thanks.

I did a search on Tom's Hardware and came up with a couple articles. See list of articles in this link but you have to hit the search button at the top under keyword search

I'd expect them in the next month or 2. At worst, you'll see them by earlier summer when the BTX form factor is officiallly released, bringin native PCI express with it.

never mind, here's a copy of the announcement on http://nvidia.com/object/nzone_geforcelanparty_home

Are you thirsty for a new level of graphics technology? Tuesday, April 13th, NVIDIA will be hosting an unprecedented all-day LAN party in conjunction with the introduction of our next-generation GeForce GPU.

April 13th for nvidia, and you can bet ATI is right around then.

BTX is a great idea. PC's have been long overdue for a major form factor change (remember how much AT SUCKED?). While it isn't critically necessary, BTX does have 2 nice things it brings to the table: Native PCI express (I know, this is beginning to take shape on ATX, but this will help accelerate it), and a desgin with cooling in mind. This will help pc's find their way into more and more mainstream locations (like your living room, for a HTPC). Alot of it is stuff the "enthusiast" or "modding" communities already do on their own, but it's a nice change for Joe Schmo.

I won't be going out and changing over immediately, but come Christmas time I might be looking to start in that direction.....
