NASA jet breaks speed record
The Pegasus rocket carrying the X-43A accelerates over the Pacific Ocean. After Pegasus released it, the X-43A flew under its own power for six minutes. The experimental vehicle broke a record, going slightly over seven times the speed of sound -- or about 5,000 mph (8,000 kph).
