What a shame... I remember hearing about him enlist and thought he was a badass for his selflessness.

I was reading this earlier today when it first broke(sinc ethen more details have come out). As a non-NFL fan, I never heard the story. He gave up a lot for what he believes, and that was before being KIA. Sound like not only a good person and gifted athlete, but also a very smart person(something like a 3.85 GPA in college).

Not sure how many of you guys are NFL Fans but there is a big stink in the draft right now because this whiny little bitch named Eli Manning doesn't want to be picked by a certain team. Its really pitful that if you go to ESPN.com's nfl page you see a huge picture of this little shit and then in the corner a small picture about Tillman.
Tillman was a class act and deserves the utmost respect. The media tried to make a big deal of it when he made his decision to join the army but he would have none of it. He said that his making that decision was absolutely no different from the many other men and women who made the same decision.
Pat Tillman this one is for you

This article speaks volumes to his character and make up.

Looks like I'm not the only one here who was inspired by this guy. Whether or not you believe in the war, he sacrificed everything for what he believed in.
Nice comments one and all.

All those that serve in our country's military have my respect. Maybe they didn't give up what Tillman (he was a truly gifted person) but there are many out there that are in harms way. It disapoints me to see how much our society tends to hero-worship so many people who are over paid and spoiled...

I remember reading about it when he enlisted and like everyone was very impressed. But the most impressive thing about this guy was that he didn't seem to give a shit about what you and me thought. He was very lowkey about it and didn't do interviews and have a press agent talking about how great a guy he was for doing it. Drudge had a link to this just now:

Good points Doom and it should also be noted that although this is a tragedy it's a shame that because he was a former NFL player that this makes his death "seem" somehow worse than any other soldier's death - which it isn't. It just gets more publicity because of his unique story.Originally posted by {CN}Doomfarer
