Just bought an 89 today. Just want to know if any of you have ever had one, and your thoughts on them.

Some how some way I managed myself to weasel a dealer to drop the bidding price of a 1996 Corsica to 1200, originally around 2000. I saved 800 dollars. Hmm...lets see a 1989 Corsica for 1000 with 132k miles on it, or a 1996 Corsica with only 110k miles on? The 96 is only a V4 but gets almost 40mpg, the 89 was a V6 so you know the mpg is around 20, and with gas prices sky rocketing the 96 was a better choice.

I don't have a camera but they have pictures so here goes.






That should do it. My friend also got one from his neighbor, I think his is a 95, got it for 500 dollars but his had problems.

That looks like the 2.2L. Watch for head gasket problems, but with 110k miles it may have been repaired for that. It leaks at the right front corner (you facing the engine) sealing surface of the engine block.

My Buick Electra with a 3800 V6 got 30+ highway. My 95 Buick with the same engine in that Corsica barely gets over 30. You probably made the right choice though just based on the age difference.

You are correct sir a 2.2L V4. I would have much rather preferred a V6 for the power, but the V4 was a 96 and only 200 dollars more than the 89 that was in so so condition.

How much is it to repair, and will the problem continue to happen even after repair?


Oh and ship by the end of August I am hoping to have 2 15 in subs in the trunk and a 1000w amp or 2000w amp depending on price and brand, first thing I am gonna get is a cd player of course. After the audio is all hooked up I may get it painted all black and get a set of black rims.

This is the look I may try and go for with tinted windows. I won't bother with the engine because its only a V4 and you can only do so much with it, maybe do some air intake modifications and add a chip.
