Anyone know a lot about Airsoft?

Postby deathBOB » Tue May 11, 2004 5:41 pm

My best friend is a rich bastard and lives in a huge ass house... Him and me and all my friends were thinking of buying those airsoft guns and playing Counter Strike in and around his huge house... We looked at em at school and thier pretty expensive... I am thinking of getting a gas operated pistol but thier expensive and I dont wanna be ripped off. Anyone know good brands/models for a n00bs like me and my friends? We also dont want to hurt ourselves... LOL...

Well...

If you're going to play CS, buy some rifles or sub machine guns. Buy pistols if you're just going to use small arms.

I have a spring loaded Desert Eagle, and works well for just one use pistol firing. And of course, just pull back and fire again.

I'd advise against playing indoors, those plastic BBs can travel from 100 feet per second to 400 feet per second, causing some serious damage. Trust me...

Tokyo Marui, Classic Army are the brands that comes to mind for best makers of airsoft guns. AEGs are good for general all purpose, though they cost a little more. Gas operated is the strongest of all the gun types, but they don't make them for a lot of SMGs like the ones popularized in CS.

Most of all, you're gonna want protection gear like pads and such, those plastic BBs hurt, especially if they're fired from rifles and the likes. A standard clip can hold hundreds of BBs but for CS realism sakes you may just want to load 30 rounds into them. :)

my friends and i got into this a few years ago. steer clear of all spring rifles, biggest beginner mistake.
the aegs even with the hop-up feature have really limited range, gas is the way to go but i dont think they make full auto gas rifles. indoors/cqb is fine, but outdoors an aeg wont do very good without decent upgrades. gas guns are expensive. read product reviews before you buy. if you cant find a review dont buy it.

if you buy an aeg, buy marui. spring pistols are ok, but the cocking each round will drive you crazy. if you have the cash gas is best. gas also gets really specific and its just another thing to throw money away on. if you buy an smg you wont be satisfied until your gun is all tricked out with the hottest accessories.

its pretty hard to aim with a paintball mask on, but i recommend it. ive shot people in the face and it resembles the worst acne youve ever seen. a welt on my body i can deal with, but a face shot is a real buzzkill.

if you dont want to hurt yourselves, youve picked the wrong hobby. the bbs will go through walls, and leave all sorts of dents. the walls in my house look like shit because of it.

What do you mean it doesn't hurt? Try getting shot by one - tell me it doesn't hurt. Granted, not as much as a BB, but it still hurts.

Read the post just on top of the one you posted. I already got shot by a paintball gun and it's not the kind of pain that will make you cry. It's just enough to say:"Ouch!".

Then wear face goggles... stray shots could hit the eyes without protection. Especially knowing how CS players go for headshots...

Just as a tip wear safety goggles, you might look like a twat but get in the eye and you are in trouble. If you wear glasses they will not do as safety goggles. I used to have huge bb battles with my mates and on one occasion a friend jumped up in front of me and I shot him in the face at close range, he wasn't wearing safety goggles and his normal glasses shattered in his face, there was quite a lot of blood but fortunately no lasting damage, thank christ! Safety goggles are a must, even if you agree not to shoot above the neck because ricochets are very common.

As for brands I have no idea.
