Well actually my family is from Canada. My brother is a Dutch Breakfast Chef in Vancouver. But no I have no problem with Canadians just to let everyone know. It's nice that this gaming community has many different ethnicities.

Maybe this is not in line with the whole WWII theme but did anyone ever see "The Beast"

"The Beast" was a great flick. One of those movies you see on cable, late at night, and winding up staying up waaaay too late to see how it ends!
As for the discussion about 'pretty boy' types in war movies vs Tom Hanks: Tom Hanks is always an asset because when push comes to shove, that man can act. That scene in Saving Private Ryan where he went off in a ditch to cry was pretty heart wrenching (at least to me anyway..I'm pretty soft-hearted).
As the for 'battle of Kursk' movie: YES, massive tank battle with today's special effects would be terrifying. Seeing a tank hull flipping 30 feet into the air will pretty drive home what it means to 'lose' a tank battle.

The Beast is a great flick. Well ahead of it's time, considering how it developed characters rather than plot.
And I officially have to disagree about Brad Pitt being a pretty boy. Yeah he's good lookin', but that's no reason to be hatin' on the man. He's a hell of an actor. Tom-Cruise is a clown in bad-makeup in comparison.
I completely changed my opinion of Pitt when I saw him in a movie (can't recall the name) where he portrays a serial killer who hitches a ride with a journalist doing work on serial killers. Pit had dirt under his broken nails for god's sakes. How's that for unpretty? Or Pitt in 'Snatch' where he portrays an unintelligable Irish gypsy hooligan.... not a sterlingly deep character, but he played it well.
However, I have to say that recently, after seeing Last Samuri, I have more respect for Tom Cruise. Not because he's getting better as an actor (he's getting worse) but because such a damned fine kick-ass movie would cast someone like him in it. Guilty by association.
I'm surprised Hollywood hasn't put together a Battle of Britain movie starring Cruise or someone like that who goes over and saves the day.

Pitt in Twelve monkeys is still his best piece of acting IMO or perhaps fight club, I liked that too. I will have to look into 'The Beast' might have to add that to the collection.
As far as other war movies go 'Iron cross' is very good at showing the German side of the whole thing. I really need to find a german language version of 'Stalingrad' though because I have only seen it dubbed in to English (I f**king hate that) and it was still awesome. I'd like to see more films told from the German perspective showing how they lived, what the war was for them, rather than the usual march to victory fodder of most war films.
I think the all time best war film is still 'a bridge too far' though.

Pitt was good in Fight Club I admit, I kind of want to know what happens after all the buildings blew up though..

In the book the bombs don't go off and he ends up in a mental asylum where he thinks the psychiatrist is god. You really ought to read the book.
