Slayer, I had the same problems with my Soundblaster Audigy - it's not your card. Since I got my new PC (which has an on-board Soundstorm on my mobo), I haven't had that problem.

Wish I could tell you what it was, but I don't know.
It's ok, I think after a re-install( ) everything will be fine.

Thanks for the tip though!

this card "bleeds" onto the mic channel, which connected players can hear.

quoted from teamspeak's FAQ...
"English: AddOn - Turtle Beach Santa Cruz

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz is a soundcard that is reported to cause echos all the time, but in this case it's neither case (a) nor (b)....
The card has a hardware-error. This means that sound which is meant to be played gets routed back by the soundcard's hardware to the microphone plug.
When using this soundcard it's highly recommended to use push-to-talk because else you'll echo everything to your teammates that you hear.
The only known solution for this problem is to use another soundcard. If you find another solution, please contact us, thx."

Funny. Never heard of the bleed on TS before. The TB card is known to bleed into Ventrilo. TS is a new twist. Ventrilo said it was hardware related also. The TB card is known to be thee best card for BF42. Great sound from that card. Looks like the voice comms are its downfall. If your not a big chatter on a voice comm go with the TB card. Enjoy the sounds.

I heard you can run two cards at once. If he runs TS through the soundstorm and BF42 and all other system generated sounds through the TB he could be good to go. Right?

I recently bought an Audigy 2 off of New Egg for &75.00 shipping included and I love it. I was coming off of on board sound and there is a HUGE difference in quality. Now it's very easy to distinguish where snipemonkeys are to go slice em, if a plane is on your six and you turn you can kind of hear which way he turned. Spend a little more and snag one of these, dude.

I'll look into that. I looked at it and it doesn't seem bad. The reviews are a little persuading as well.... I just need to figure out how to disable this effing on-board sound now.

it's in the BIOS. on many motherboards, hitting the delete key after POST(power on self test) loads the BIOS setup. just poke around in there. you'll find it.

Slayer,
Have you updated your sound drivers? I had some crackling issues with BF42 that went away after I updated the nvidia platform/nforce drivers. What nforce driver version are you using? The older verison that came on the CD with the Mobo had crackling but not newer ones. I also have the Asus A7N8X Deluxe version 2 with soundstorm.

You were not even sure in an earlier post whether or not you had Soundstorm or Realtek. You also mentioned you re-installed the drivers, but not which version. When I first installed the mobo with the drivers on the disk, I got crackling. A completely clean re-install of these drivers did not resolve the problem. Only a new version of the drivers solved the problem.

If you did not know what type of sound you had, I assumed you might also not have the most recent drivers. A re-installation of old drivers would not help.

Oh, sorry about that. No I downloaded the latest drivers from

Nvidia. Driver Version 4.31

I just did this yesterday... But Like I said I really believe I am having a software problem with BF. I'm going to re-install today and hopefully it will work. If not it's off to Newegg...

Thanks for the help!;)

Edit: And I see now where I wrote re-intall instead of updated, my mistake.:violin:

Uninstall the drivers completely and reseat the sound card (sorry I didn't read through this completely and thought you said you had a seperate sound card) and reinstall the drivers when the New Device Found screen comes up. That should solve your problem. :)
