Own vs Pwn

Tue Jun 22, 2004 6:46 pm

Help me out here, what is the difference?

As I understand it if I was having a sniper battle with Raven and he successfully sniped me say 3 times in a row that would be an act of ownage, or he would now own me. Correct?

Now pwn, is that a super size own? Say he then sniped me 3 more times in a row thus making the score 6-0, would that be a pwn? I have seen the word being used and at first I thought it was just a fat finger on the keyboard as p is right next to o but it is used so often I thought being in the over 30 club maybe I just wasn't staying true to my childish ways and I missed out on a new word.

Help a brother out.:help: :help: :help: :help:

Nice recording...thought it was a speeling bee at first :P As I know of pwn's origins, it started way back with the development of halo for x-box. A website created for halo meant to put owned as part of a sentence, a word gaining very much popularity in gaming, but a simple typo place "p" instead of "o" thus creating pwned. As many saw the typo, few realized that it was indeed a mistake and the pwn fad spread like wildfire, moving from game to game, mouth to ear, with such phrases as: pwnage, pwned, uberpwned, cornpwn and so on...personally, i like the recordings much more :P

Uggg

pwn is part of the noobie type affliction. It ussually doesn't go away over time as newbieness does. Even after some people are no longer newbies they continue to be noobs.

newbie=good
noobie=bad
