BellSouth Fast Access DSL - Xtreme

Wed Jun 23, 2004 2:36 pm

I don't know how many of you guys use Bellsouth DSL, but I just signed up for their Fast Access Xtreme.

http://www.fastaccess.com/content/consumer/products.jsp

I had their normal Fast Access 1.5 Mb down, 256k up.

DSL Xtreme is 3 Mb down, 384k up!

The upgrade is only going to cost me $5/month! That's a bargain if you ask me. :)

Thought some of you might be interested. Apparently they started offering this last service month. Also comes with free modem (after rebate), a static IP address, and several 25 Mb email boxes.

I've had this for about 2 months now. My test speeds (http://www.dslreports.com) come in at around 2 to 2.5 download and around 300 upload.

However, I have not noticed any difference in gameplay (bf1942). Time to retire the AMD 1700.

Hmm.

I'll take my 10mbit down, 1mbit up thank you very much.

And pay hundreds of dollars a month? :violin:

I have adelphia cab;e. 3Mb down and I've gotten 600Kbps up before. Haven't reached that high recently though. (I think I was able to get that fast before they put the 3Mbps downstream cap on)
ANyways it's super expensive $55 a month. :(

Hey evan where do you get your 10Mbps from? If I could get that for nearly the same price per month I would definatly go for it.

Move to NJ or NYC. Optimum Online (owned by Cablevision). It's only a regional provider at this time.

Darn. I live in north VA. I live to far out for DSL from any providers in the area so my only option is adelphia.

>.<

I'm was paying $35.. now $40. Not bad.

FarginMofo: Once I have the upgrade installed, I'll check the speed and let you know the speed I finally end up with.

I agree... it's time to upgrade. I saw an increase in download speed when I upgraded from a 700 mhz Duron to 1.4 Athlon. I didn't think CPU upgrade would affect download speed, but it sure seemed to make a difference. (That was several years ago.) :)

I pay 50.00 bucks a month for less than half of that speed

What a bunch of shit!

SBC can eat my ass! :flame:

Yes, a bit pricy! But it's only $10 a month if you work for them. I also have 3 digital cable boxes (1 is High-Def, but only like 6 channels are broadcast in HD) with all the premium channels, and the total bill for me is less than $30 a month. And to top if off, PPV is half price, too. So I can't complain, but thanks for supporting the company that pays me :D
