Most of this is drivel about her and Bill but check out this quote:

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Nice to know they are going to take things away for "the common good".

Counter-point: Yeah, damn communists and their common-good fire department, police, military. Why can't they keep their hands off my money and let me take care of myself.

Reality: We all agree that some taxation and "common-good" is necessary.

It's just a matter of where you draw the line.

Pudrik you summed it up nicely.

I am ok with taxation that provides measurable value for everyone. Things like highways and Rural Electrification, a National Defense are great and how can anyone complain about them?

But when you get into murkier subjects like social agendas and straight out wealth redistribution programs thats when it gets sticky. Or one of my favorites, corporate welfare. I bitch when the individual gets welfare and does nothing for it. I sure as hell am going to bitch when billionaires get tax subsidies to enrich themselves.

I live in Minnesota and they keep talking every year about a new Tax payer financed stadium for the Twins and one for the Vikings. The Vikings stadium looks to be about 500$ million without the retractable roof. I love my sports but the hell with corporate welfare for a guy worth 2 Billion dollars. He can build his own store for his product. 500 Million for a place that will be used for a maximum of what, 2 pre-season games, 8 regular season games and at most two post season games. Thats 12 days a year use out of a 500 Million dollar (and I am sure it would end up costing more) tax subsidised facility.

So you said it perfectly Pudrik.

But somehow I don't think Hillary had the idea of improving our transportation grid or strengthening National Defense. Everything I have in life I earned and I don't see a single thing wrong with expecting that out of my fellow American.
