Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

He got into a fight like two seaons ago i think, he only played 5 games last season.

Lemieux has fought a few times...he has the size to pound someone but I think he seems to usually lack the motivation. Gretz fought 2 or 3 times but it was pretty embarassing by his own admission. BTW: Congrats on post 2300 there Crypt

sniff sniff I miss my Dino Cicarelli...
Hee hee this is me freely admitting some bias here. Watched my North Stars get sold off to Dallas and hated the idea of southern Hockey ever since. Irrational I know but what the hay?
I am a little better now that I have the Wild but the last decade of watching Canadian teams head south bothers me.
I heard someone in another Hockey thread saying the problem for Canadian Hockey teams is that they take in revenue in the form of Canadian money and have to pay out salaries in Amercian cash.
Did some thinking on this and I have only one question about that. I can see that as being a problem if they charged 40 US here to see the wild and charged 40 Canadian for Tommy to see his Sens but somehow I doubt it is that way. I made those numbers up but I am willing to bet I am paying the 40 US and Tommy is paying something like 50 Canadian (not properly adjusted for the exchange rate just arbitrary numbers by me).
Now I know for a fact Hockey is popular in Canada and that people will pay to see it at the professional level so why has there been this egress of teams?
Maybe Hockey needs a couple of Canadian equivalents of the NFL's Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder?
Best sports quote of all time?
Jerry Jones "If you can't prove you are operating at a loss every year you don't deserve to own a professional sports franchise"

I hope they get the CBA figured (which probably wont happen) the shortened season of 95 was pretty rough...
The blues let demitra go... good riddance to any team that wants him... the dude fucking disappears in the playoffs...
Keith Tkachuck better act like he's being payed 14 mil per year...
A league w/o Jaromir Jagr... halleluja... that dude was more hype then anything.... once he got to the Caps.
I'd be excited to see how columbus does w/ their young players actually gaining some experience... probably not hot but at least the fans get the same level of play the Rangers do and they dont spend bukoo bucks each year.

Ive never really figured out the Rangers, every good player that goes there, turns into either an injury ridden player, they retire or they do really bad and quietly take in the huge salary they were signed at.

while on the topic of the NHL, this is pretty big news today:

I will post more about the CBA and the possible (make that very likely) work stoppage this fall...I have lots of thoughts, but want to formulate them properly...

that is because the Rangers sign "former" all-stars out of thier prime and no longer hungry.
Thier line up is full of big name stars but as you all know, hockey is a genuine "team" game.
This has been proven time and again with teams like the Panthers, Bolts, Ducks, Flames, Devils, etc going to or winning the cup. These teams have success because the build from within thier system, instead of "buying" a championship.

Boston is having a firesale !!!

Rolston should really spice up the Wild's roster.
And from before, I don't think the Yankees could be more stacked. Their team is highly paid and that is how the Yankees win, they buy the championship.
