In 2000, a police officer handcuffed a 12-year-old girl for eating a french fry on a subway platform

A free country my ass...Cant even drink a beer in public. Now i guess you cant eat candy or exercise your free right of speech either. Thank god i was smart enough to move to thailand..where people have a laid back..live and let live mentality. Here, police do not follow you when you are driving (so u can get a ticket and ur insurance go up 3x) or watch you as you walk down the street..america is a police state. America is so much more regulatory, structured, uptight, stressful, politically correct, boring, predictable, ignorant, cultureless, closed-off, bureaucratic, and dangerous than about anywhere. And for godsakes, 2/3 of the women are fat and unnatractive, not to mention have attitudes, superiority complexes, and feminist pretenses! They aren't even feminine anymore! Americans are not even allowed to use their own common sense anymore..they are like sheep...crossing the street with the rest when told to do so. Nobody even knows how to have fun anymore, or meet other people because of the rigid mentality. Cant walk down the street without fear of getting arrested, cannot drive a car without fear of getting sued (or flicked off or honked at), can't get drunk outside of your home, can't smoke in BARS in most states, can't talk about politics or anything without getting in an argument or offending someone, can get sued for anything, can't go to a bar without seeing a fight or getting attitude from women, can't go into a black neighborhood if you are white (because whites are hated in america, they are the "oppressors"), cant compliment a woman without her getting pissy, cant get a medication if you are sick...have to wait a week and make an appointment to see a doc and fill out insurance forms and pay $200 so he can tell you what he thinks you need, have to tip 20% everywhere you go, cant get a house or lease a car without perfect credit, get laid once a year of lucky even if you are good looking, lose your job or get sued for sexual harrassment if you bring a playboy to work, get taxed up the ass for a single pack of cigs....america free? I dont think so!

I think he needs to add a  to it...

LMAO!

In 2002, one of their officers ticketed a wheelchair-bound cerebral palsy patient for cursing when he was unable to find a working elevator to leave a station.

Omg...attack of the wheelchair-bound cerebral palsy people!

I'm sure that the terrorist are planning their next attack using candy bars. There has got to be better crimes to watch out for than someone eating food.

I dont get it, they asked her to finish the candy bar before going on:

Stephanie Willett said she was eating a PayDay bar on an escalator descending into a station July 16 when an officer warned her to finish it before entering the station. Both Willett and police agree that she nodded and put the last bit into her mouth before throwing the wrapper into a trash can.

She finished the candy bar and even threw away the wrapper. Why did they arrest her?

It's funny how life is full of irony.

Oh no slog this goes way beyond any "political" threads. This is an act of idiocy and athoritarianism that should scare everyone and make you, irregardless of political leanings, demand an accounting for.

Read the stories mentioned in this thread for a clue why.

Totalitarian leadership...:(

I highly doubt it will come down to that in America.

Even if it started to, we would have a revolution to stop it.

"Do you hear the people sing, singing the song of angry men? They just want to eat their candy and not be arrested again! When the beating of the cops echoes in the halls the people will rise up and eat a candy bar!"
-Sung to the tune of "Do You Hear the People Sing?" From Les Miserables
