I agree...for me this story is almost appalling...I mean it is just so sad. In today's world, you wonder how this can happy to anyone.

Do they not have family or friends that love them and try to intervene?

As for that lady...when someone lets another family member be inactive for that long, someone should be charged w/ negelect. 1 or all, whoever is responsible. Just because someone gets older doesn't mean you don't have to help care for them. The other end of the spectrum if you're talking about a child. Very sad.
