Service Pack 2 is available via a seperate download from Microsoft's Technet site.
I've had it for a month or so, and it makes HUGE improvements in Windows wireless netowrking, both in reliability and ease of use (FINALLY!).
Microsoft claims to make the Windows Firewall "more effective", but in my experience it's at the very least more easily configured for everyday use (i.e. File and Print Sharing, Remote Desktop, etc). How effective it is remains to be seen.

It's 266MB, so be prepared for a long download (unless you're one of those 4Mb Comcast bastards!!)
Highly recommended, in my experience, especially if you have clients with wireless networks.

Microsoft is releasing it the SP slowly, to decrease load on its servers. Most users won't get a sniff until mid- to late September.
Use the link I provided above.

No way dude...I'm too dead in the head for serious stuff like that. I'm a PC Consultant. I've been dealing with this Spyware fiasco Microsoft has created...and have LONG been waiting for a way to prevent my clients (or specifically their kids) from screwing up their PCs over and over and over.
I tell my clients, "You've heard the phrase 'A day late and a dollar short'?...well Microsoft is a year late and a billion dollars short."
It's gotten so bad I've started recommending and selling Macs to all my residential clients. This Service Pack will help (I hope). If not Microsoft might go the way of WANG (remember them?).

I recommend getting it as well. I have had sp2 for about 2 - 3 months, and it is well worth it.
Note: Takes awhile to install.

not sure why it is taking so long for me...I will have to see what I am doing wrong maybe...but I should have had it by now.
P.S. Mojo, post count really does not mean anything...I wish that there was no record of it here at all.

I heard the SP broke some programs...but what do I know! muhahahaha!
Thu Aug 26, 2004 3:57 pm
SP2 comes with a firewall that (like any other firewall) asks you if it's OK if one program or another access the Internet. The problem (again, like MOST firewalls) is that most end-users don't know how to answer the questions.
Bingo! Instant PC screw-up (which is why I don't recommend software firewalls to my clients).
If the SP screws up a program, chances are it's a crap program that you're better off without anyway.
Cold hard facts. Keep it simple.
