Political Threads

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Political Threads should be dealt with in the following manner:

So why not just make one thread for it. I mean they have a thread for posting pictures of scantily clad ladies. If your only argument is clutter then it would seem to make sense to just restrict them to one thread.

What EXACTLY was the reason for prohibiting them in the first place I'm curious?

Today, the American national government is an enormous institution with programs and policies reaching into every corner of American life. It oversees the nation's economy; it is the nation's largest employer; it procides citizens with a host of services; it controls the world's most formidable military establishment; and it regulates a wide range of social and commercial activities in which Americans engage. Even those who are not American feel the touch of our government in one way or another (DONT TWIST THAT AROUND) As citizens we are dependent upon government, so why souldnt we be able to discuss the topic maturely? I agree in limiting what is said (if it infringes to heavily on someone elses views for instance), so lets bring it back!

We have already thought of this... and have come to the conclusion that its probably just a good idea to not allow them at all.

We discussed the possiblity of having a seperate "members only" type forum, but it would be a moderation nightmare. Just.. not a good idea.

Like I said.. go elsewhere if you want to discuss. Please guys.. I don't want to have to keep explaining this.

Bashing in threads, inability to stay on topic, people not understanding that people have different opinions, and bashing them is not going to sway them.

Not to mention, its just not the best topic anyway. People will be people, and have different views on things... but just discuss it elswhere.

would you let an employee work in your place of restaraunt if he had horrible hygene? would you wear over-alls to a desk-job? would you let a person who barely spoke english work customer service for your business? Probably not.

Just because we are all able to discuss political threads maturely, doesnt mean that it looks good for possible customers. What if for some reason a highly politcal person came along wanting to rent a server, and they get on the forums and all they see is political flaming? Their views may be somewhat lessened as to ECGN being a promiseable place to rent said server. It is a business, business have practices. Some practices are not always liked, especially ones like: 14 day return exchange policy on laptops, digital cameras, and computer at local electronic stores, in addition to the 15% restocking fee if the product is fine and the package has been opened.

The main servers for BF:1942, BF:V and Wolf are all free, the forums are free as well. Don't smack the hand that feeds you.

If I start ripping on one or two of the guys running for president, will it get this thread locked?

Or will the fact that this has been explained over and over and over again be enough to just finally end this need to have political threads? I do not know how many more times it has to be explained until it is understood. King of Beers mas two excellent posts, one on why it is bad in principle for a business.

I also do not understand why so many say 'this forum is boring now..etc etc etc.' Guys, there weren't too many political threads here until the recent past, when they were finally locked down.

Even if ECGN was a bunch of Satan worshiping tree huggers I'd still rent a server from them before I went anywhere else. If the ping is low and the service is good who cares.

So I guess we'll all have to bite our tongues as the RNC is going on all this week. I mean Ahnold is speaking today. I respect the companies decision anyway and will look for somewhere else to read PT but it won't be as easy going.:(

As a cook tho may I offer this advice "If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen."

The alternative which I have used:

http://www.fpscentral.com/forums

Goto political discussion.

Let's end this thread on good terms, eh?

Thanks.
