Hurricane Threatens Shuttle Program

Postby Mugzy » Thu Sep 02, 2004 10:27 am

This would suck...

http://dsc.discovery.com/news/afp/20040830/hurricane.html

"Hurricane Frances may end NASA's space shuttle program. John Logsdon, a member of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board and the head of George Washington University's Space Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., has said: 'If there were serious damage to one or two of the orbiters or the facilities needed to process and launch the orbiters, I think it would raise a very large question about the continuation of the shuttle program.'"

That's the joy of picking where you live. If you scared of hurricanes and nor-eastern stay away from the coast. If you fear tornado's stay out of tornado alley and mobile homes (though if you are in a mobile home in tornado alley, you should stay in one, God will be by to get you in a few months). If you're scared of avalanches stay out of the mountains. Don't like volcano's hey don't move to a volcanic island. Come on people this is simple to figure out…..

I like being here in NC...we get such a nice cross-section of disaster. Tornado's, Hurricanes, and lovely ice storms the last few years. :) None of it bothers me much, but I don't think I'd like earthquakes. The wind is supposed to move, it just moves faster in tornado's and Canes...but the ground is supposed stay still. :)

What is there to complain? We 've only had half the summer filled with rain and thunderstorms, and temperatures that range from 30c to 10c, all in one freakin' hour!!!

Worst. Summer weather. Ever!
