Audigy 2 ZS - so many updates

Postby Agent-Commando » Thu Sep 02, 2004 8:56 am

I finally upgraded my audio system.

Went from:

Audigy 1 Gamer
Altec Lansing 251 5.1s

To:

Audigy 2 ZS
Logitech Z-5300 5.1s

There's like 6 updates for the Audigy 2 ZS that I downloaded that applied to me, geez, so many friggin' updates, Creative should make it UDA instead of indvidual updates.

But overall, I'm enjoying it, the sounds are top notch, I have golden ears, I can tell the difference. ;) Especially in jazz music and classical.

Any if at all performance tips would be greatly appreciated as well.

Yes, thats the way creative like it, up-to-date and running otp notch. Just out of curiosity, does your audigy 2 zs have the eax console, with all the soud effects and odd and ends, creative media player is very good, you can record music with the, WHAT YOU HEAR FEATURE, lots of features with the 2 zs platinum which i have. When ever i reformat, which is about that time of the new month, there is usually like 25 updates to download.

Just Q & A Nothing much considering we have like THE SAME sound set- up

Ow yes, the special effects, the chipmunks.......go.....TECHNO!! or what ever else you apply it to.

Happy hunting

So many updates?, I have just purchased an Audigy 2 ZS but I don´t have updated my sound drivers,As far I know I haven´t had any issues with my games. Is there any difference or upgrade in sound, system performance when applying those updates?.

Yes, of course they help, just like windows update, and anyother update. When you start using the audigy for all media usage, you will encounter certain prolems, the updates will hopefully fix those holes, or errors. i have had several minor prolems, one re-accuring problem, that might be the hardware, not sure which though. They have the eax 4.0 console avalible for download, that is on your second time you update, yes you will need to update 2 times. It is worth it of course, and is probobly the best sound card TYPE out to date.

Not really, just better controls for software. Like the extra effects and stuff, and one of the updates makes EAX Console load faster... ;) What u got now Spam Master, Audigy 2?

[U.S.C] Amaryl, like Davis said, it fixes some stuff. Like before, the bass output on stock drivers were really bad, it was too deep and broken, but with the updates, it's a lot clearer and richer. As well, it optimizes your card for better functionality on your overall system.

As well, THX Caliberator tor works a lot better now and it's saved when I close it.

Do you guys know if they have speaker stands for the Z-5300 rear satellites? It's not like most speakers, has two horizontal holes instead of ones that are vertical...

Yes, yes. Its very rich and powerful all together. After you uprade from 100-watt system to 300 wat system, you will NEED the good sound card to make the most of it. The SVM on the Creative MediaSource is very nice, automaticcly equalizes everything, i still get the kick of turning it off and turning the logitech volume up to the 3rd and listen to the speakers pound and the floor, walls, and windows shake!

Very nice buy, if you are thinking of upgrading, it is, audigy2 series and a 300+ speaker system is the way to go.

well, you convinced me, I will download all the drivers and application updates from the support page. :)
BTWIt is needed to uninstall all previous drivers versions or just installing the update over the old drivers is enough.?

Just install on top. Don't uninstall the previous drivers.

DeathBOOB, because that's only software mod/upgrade, I want genuine hardware upgrade.
