sad to see that happen. I will say one thing though, the Oakland A's have the most retarded bullpen in the world. Having a bullpen right next to the fans is stupid. Im sure he was trying to ignore the comments but he probably took all he could take and couldnt take anymore. Then he threw a chair, which wasnt a good touch. Im just glad he didnt hit a little kid.

Was pretty dumb thing to do, but I also think the fans need to be responcible for their actions as well.

Not sure what the guy was saying, but if you are willing to cross a certain line in your insults, you should be willing to take a chair to the head imo.

I can think of nothing a fan could say that deserves a chair thrown at him.

Unless the fan is in teh first row, the chances of hitting him are very low. Even if you do, you will mos tlikely also hit someone else, like the woman who got hit and now has a broken nose.

He deserves to be banned the rest of the season, and at least partially next season.

well i agree that he needs to be suspended and fined, but i also think Oakland needs to build a bullpen for relievers that isnt on the field right next to the fans. I have heard about how intense the A's fans are next to the bullpen and Francisco Franco probably isnt the only player who wanted to throw a chair. He just acted on it.

Not condoning Francisco's actions and I believe he should be (probably will be) fined and suspended, but Oakland fans are pretty notorious for pushing the limits (and, at times, exceeding them) - Howie Long wouldn't even let his family attend games while playing there...

Prior to the chair throwing incident, the entire Rangers team rushed over to backup their bullpen. So, there had to be something major going on. I'm with Tommy. Where was security before the chair was thrown. Stadium management has to take some responsibility for the safety of both the spectators and the players...

The fans must have said something to deserve it. I can understand how frustrating it is to warmup in the bullpen with fans barking in your ears. He could have maybe yelled back at the fans (like I would do), but, the chair was a little overboard.

Baseball sucks and has had more hooliganism (like that word?) than hockey has had the last 15 years!
These guys aren't even athletes (well, most). They are one step up from golfers IMO. Arrogant, over-paid mother F'rs.

Fans taunting players is part of the game, its their job as professionals not to act that way.

Taunting is part of the game, but its gotten rediculous over the last decade, esp. in Oakland. The normal heckling is fine imo, but there are people that go way above and beyond anything that 'is part of the game.'

If you want to try to agravate the athletes, you should be willing to take a punch, or anything else. Otherwise they are just like little brat children that get no discipline.

It was only a matter of time before they pushed somebody too far.

The old days of "hey batter batter" and "you suck" are long gone. People try to make them as angry as possible, which to me ISN"T part of the game. There is a difference between "BOOOOOOOOOOOO" and "Fuck you mr. 3rd baseman.....I bet your wife likes it in the crapper."

Wrigley field in Chicago is the same way.

I remember a incident a few years back where a fan stole a pitchers cap and the whole bullpen charged after him into the stands.
