NHL could possibly disband.

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

the NFL has a good model, but the markets are just so different. 20,000 people in an arena versus 100,000 in a stadium...plus the smaller markets would never have 100,000 in the entire state, so I ask "why is the team even there"?

Tommy I would dispute that Canadian/US currency issue.

I'll bet that you are paying equivalent in Canadian what I am paying in US. Don't let the owners fool you. They are making money.

i always cheer for the blues when they make the playoffs, not my favourite team, but i like them more than others

they do hold the world record for most consecutive playoff appearances by any team in any sport ever, over 20 somthing years in a row

I highly doubt they'll work something out in time.

they announced today that just with the change in the Canadian currency last year, it alone amounted to almost $29 million in savings...that is HUGE.

I think they still could.

As long as they don't use the name NHL or the real NHL teams and player names.

Hockey is to big world wide to not have a hockey league. I do not understand all the rules, but I am not a die-hard fan either. If this league fails another group of enterprisers will take off where this league left off, but the sport would be changed. Why not make it a Canadian sport again and lower the salaries of the players. After 1 or 2 years of not playing a game that most of the players love, they will be begging to move Canada and play for less. We all have bills to pay. This would mean that many America teams could not compete salary wise. No support means no salaries. I for one would be thrilled to play for 100,00-200,000 a year for any sport that I love. Lets get real it is still only a game and we need to put that into perspective. This would make it a very elite league with say 10 less teams. My 2 cents

P.S. Speaking of red necks and NASCAR, I would like a count of teeth during the 60’s and 70’s between the NHL and NASCAR. I would think that the car boys win hands down about not being the biggest trailer trash on the block. Has anyone ever seen SLAP SHOT?:D :D :D :P

1. I wonder if there will be remants of old teams that from up and play in some kinda world hockey . Tons of great players from other countries like i.e. Peter Forsberg from Sweden.

I always follow that more than the NHL myself anyway because it is differant in many ways IMHO. I also find playing for the old Canadian Cup or World Cup much better. Sat. or Cable Tv has it on.

Nascar: I dont watch it alot- I like Formula 1 better BUT again driving around a track at 200mph bumper to bumper is nuts and take big nuts to do. Nascar and football are HUGE down here. I see a lot of trucks driving around with a Nascar type #3 emblem. That was Dale Ernhardt's car number when he hit that wall and died. It is like he was a demi-god or something.

And yes I was watching the race the day that he got killed just like so many other "rednecks" were watching that race.

Last: Not that I really care but compare teeth - I dunno- I do know racers end up in the hospital alot it seems, with internal injures and broken pelvises on down to their feet. I guess you could compare the death ratio. I 'spect racing is highter.

But I think that I would feel safer in a car than facing a slap shot coming at my face or a major body check against the boards.
