Man, I so want to live in CA, at least for a year or so, and see what it's like. From where I sit, CA just seems to have a fun loving kind of attitude. I live in NH and though I do love my state, there is a kind of pessimism that prevails here.

Shockwave, what line of work will you be in? I have a CS degree, but work as a technician. CA's high tech economy is *hurting*. I've heard 10 percent or higher unemployment in the tech field. I might just go there and do whatever, manual labor type job, just for a year. I have money saved up, and I have a feeling business is about to get bad in NH real soon.

I'll be working in the health field when all is said and done. I'm in my 2nd year of university, out of a total of 6, working towards being an acute care nurse practitioner, which is basically the position between a doctor and a registered nurse. In many parts of the US they actually do the job of a doctor, even having their own patients. There aren't very many of them in Canada yet, but they're being hired in place of doctors in hopsitals so I'll definitely have well paying job when I'm done school. it's really an interesting field of work and I'm super excited about it
did you say you were thinking about moving to CA? I have a few friends that are getting their CS degree, one of them is double majoring in math, but I've heard about tech jobs starting to thin out. hopefully you can get on somewhere good

Shockwave, it sounds like you have chosen very, very wisely for a career path. I don't think you will have anything to worry about no matter where you decide to live.
I'm 35 yrs old, I like to play the 'what if' game and imagine how I might have done things differently. Believe it or not, Electrician might have been the way to go. They are well paid, always in demand. Everything I learned in college about computer science I could have learned on my own. In fact, I often felt like college interrupted my education.
