Hotmail will be offering 250MB to compete with Google, and Yahoo will be offering 100MB as well.

Google uses its powerful search technology to search through your emails to help you find ones you are looking for. And instead of folders to organize your email, you will just tag it with a "tag" (ie "School", "Work", "Joke") and then Archive the email. When you need it again, you can just search the tag and have all those emails come up, or you can search a keyword or two and find emails of yours that match.
Each email from individuals are shown to you in a IM conversation type format. It takes some getting used to, but I'm beginning to like it much more than Yahoo or Hotmail.
Edit: Typo

I actually pay for the extra storage Hotmail service, as its my most used address. A while ago they told me that they are upgrading me to 2 GB storage. Much better than 2 MB.

You dont still pay for that extra storage do you?

I like Gmail so far, but Yahoo still has them beat by quite a bit in features ect.
When Gmail comes out of 'beta' they will most likely be Yahoo's competetor, and not the other way around; being a very similar product.
Hotmail will be offering 250MB to compete with Google, and Yahoo will be offering 100MB as well.
Yahoo is currently 1GB at no cost. They started it back in June/July I think.
