Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War

Postby Agent-Commando » Sat Sep 25, 2004 11:22 am

Best. Strategy. Sci-fi. Game. Ever!

The battles are insane, the graphics are a bit better than C&C Generals and overall, captures the full Warhammer universe.

Epic battles, each squad is made of 4 guys, with the ability to add 4 guys to make 8 in one squad = one unit. Vehicles are individual units though.

The effects are crazy, smoke is great, explosions are awesome too.

This month is a great month for WARRRRR!! First you have Star Wars: Battlefront, then now Warhammer 40K and Rome: Total War! Ahh so many great games to play, so little time!

So many to kill and not enough time to do it in.. hehehe

Anyone here ever played the tabletop version of Warhammer? :D

Yeah bro. Old time Chaos player from way back. Probably have about 6000 points in Chaos alone with some 3.0 dark eldar now. Robin Williams is an avid Games workshop customer too. A few of my friends used to work the factory here in glen Burnie, MD. We used to pay by metal weight instead of individual. Great stuff.

Old School Dark Angel tabletop commander. Was usually a top 3 player at the local shop tourneys, god bless the Ravenwing and Deathwing. I loved that game, have yet to see a PC game capture the feel of the tabletop sessions though. Course I haven't played in over 5 years...

Done deal, buddy. Just let me pass the single player campaign first and develop some strategies, my main one right now is amass a huge army of Space Marines and vehicles and rush rush rush while building a secondary force as a second wave! Hehe... Orks can reinforce so fast though, ugh...huge numbers but shitty defense.

I played the demo of this game..it was alot of fun. The graphics were good and I liked how different the races were.

I've been playing the single player religiously in my spare time.. what little of it I have. I'm up for a game once I get my kicks worked out. I found out early on how important scouts were. Especially with a Marine squad with missle launchers set off a few yards short of range.

One thing that has annoyed me a little is the build grid. It's not easy to place buildings sometimes especially on f'd up terrain.

I have yet to play with m'Chaos boys. I might hold up on the campaign to play a little chaos skirmish.

"Blood for the blood god!"

Khorne Berserkers own. Plauge marines too.

I'm kind of an Eldar fan too. My favorite models to paint were some of the Eldar.
Ahriman is my favorite model though.. hands down.

Let me know guys when you're up to playing. I'm in.

It reminds me so much of ground control 2 maps and terrain affects mixed with the CNC small and fast game play style. Ive seen online play and comp stomped on the SP demo. Im not very impressed by what i have seen so far. shiney sparkly gfx oh wow zzz. game play seems like more macro than traditional micro. DoW just doesnt do it for me but sadly next to GC2 it looks like it will be the best thing. (like im gonna touch that POS BFME)
