Friday Night Lights
New movie about a 5A football team in Odessa TX called "Friday Night Lights"
Some of my older family members went to Midland Lee, in Midland TX [Prez. Bush family is also kinda from there]. Big time rivals.
High school football is a religion down in TX. Serious. BTW Permian High Football Stadium seats 20,000 people.
Chek it out. Just google >

They came down here to Houston to film the title game in the Astrodome. I tried to be an extra in the crowd but had a couple of exams that day.
I read the book at the beginning of each football season in high school. Hopefully, its better than Varsity Blues which had decent football-action scenes but the rest of the movie was below average.
It's quite amazing how the whole town will shut down on friday nights and when they play away games because everybody will be at the game.

Yep I had a number of friends that was xtras in it. I spect the action to be killer 'cause are we talkin whoop ass- take no names- West Texas football. Just quality of players and the perticurly the coaches and fans is amazing to me. And they got to respect that.
Youre right whole town shuts down- Midland and Odessa are only about 15 mi apart but Midland is kinda rich folk and Odessa is the regular working people. And nobody ever figurged on Permian High. I am betting I like the movie no matter what. Not that I am predjuce or anything!
I dont know brother, but I plan to be inline on opening night with my family and kin. I reckon a this and a Dallas or Houston game all in the same week would have me flying higher than a kite!
BTW I been up in CO. Them Astros doing the ass-wipen on the Rockies! No contest...........and I like Sosa fine but it time for Houston to put the pedal down and keep movin on up away from them Cubbers. Alright I'm done. Damn.

Seems to be that my Cards can't handle the 'stros lately. Hope we are able to hold together to take the NLDS.
On topic: I can't wait to see Friday Night Lights. It's looks great just from a football standpoint. I too also hope that the story line is better than Varsity Blues...which IMO, as just a movie, wasn't bad.
